In September of last year, I started to relax a little on my self expectations, and instead injected that same energy into feeding my soul.
I had to start saying no to some things, and yes to others.
Spending money on myself that was classed as ‘nourishment’ seemed like a waste of money, and in the first few months I wasn’t seeing any difference. Then one morning I would realise that wasn’t as fatigued as I usually was when I’d wake up, or my inflamed knuckles were no longer red and sore, or my tolerance was stronger, I wasn’t feeling flat or anxious or getting as cranky, or that I hadn’t had a flare up in…………. I couldn’t remember!
The changes I was making to my lifestyle were also visible in my skin, although I knew that I needed to start paying it a little more attention now that I’m starting to get [older and] wiser.. 😉
One of the things I had never experienced was a facial, so when I saw a post on a friends facebook page about a ‘Microdermabrasion Facial’ I was intrigued.
This was going to be my introduction to the skin care regime that I needed.
No matter how much I read, I learn better by being able to talk something out, or hear it – it just seems to sink in when it’s a verbal delivery.
When I met Melinda in her studio, I was instantly relaxed, but also really interested in everything I could see.
There are machines, creams, oils, bottles, mirrors, wipes, cloths, fridges… So many “things” to look at. I was like a toddler at the zoo – I didn’t know where to look first!
Melinda has been a beauty therapist for 10 years, and her background in counselling is clear, as she listens intently to your answers about how you look after yourself, what kind of outcome you’re looking for, what your lifestyle is.
My most favourite moment was hearing her talk about her ‘why’. Most of us don’t really know how to touch on our ‘why’ but Mel has it nailed. She’s here to make women feel good about themselves, and show them how they can look after their skin, starting early on in life.
“It’s not what you do once a month when you come in for a treatment – it’s what you do every day in between. Keep hydrated. Cleanse, tone & moisturise every day (your skin starts to dehydrate within 2 minutes after your shower.. I did NOT know that!). Have a mask once a week. You’re worth every second of it.”
Melinda advises the following:
Microdermabrasion encourages cell renewal, which means your skin will benefit from improved elasticity, a smoother texture and reduced signs of ageing.
Our medical grade diamond tip Micro treatment can remove up to three times the number of dead skin cells in a single session compared to some other exfoliating treatments.
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types, and your therapist will assess your skin to ensure the best treatment outcomes.
Melinda uses a range of cosmeceutical (A combination of the terms ‘cosmetic’ and ‘pharmaceutical’, it refers to a product that contains an active ingredient like vitamins, antioxidants or botanical extracts.) and aromatherapy based products which are available for purchase also.
To say that I was relaxed by the end was a total understatement.
This is a treatment that I would encourage all women to treat themselves to. A facial is incredibly relaxing, and I actually felt like my head was in the clouds. I was light on my feet, and calm in my mind.
If you’re local to the Geelong region, I highly recommend you book yourself in for some down time with Mel.
She often has specials on aswell if you’re looking for a treat for someone else. ♥
You’re worth looking after.
Love and grace,
