Blah blah blah detox blah green smoothies blah clean eating etc etc
Yes, it’s being shoved down our throats. Detox, detox, detox.
Seriously though, if you want to start feeling better about yourself, finding more contentment in your everyday, and generally being a whole lot lighter in mental space, look at the areas that could do with a make over (or if you want to speak in 2016 speak – DETOX).
It’s as good a time as any right now, to refresh and shake up what might be weighing you down.
Make way for goodness! 👊
It should be simple, but it’s really a tricky one. We all have that one friend that is a solid negative Nancy, or the one that we are always lifting up, but never actually asks how you are, or boosts your spirits. Time to cut ties. Release that pony into the fields, and
hope to God they don’t find their way back if they come back, practice grace, understanding and remember how they impacted you.
Surround yourself with good, honest people. People who feed your soul with laughter, a shoulder to absorb the tears, a stubbie holder when you need a beer, open arms always ready to hug you, and a spare seat when you just want to sit in silence and read the paper.
I don’t mean pack up your house (unless you want a really fresh start…?), I mean movement. Get off your butt – dance in the kitchen, park the car a little further away from the sliding doors at the shopping centre, or chase the ducks at the park.
If you have a garden, why not get out there and give it a refresh? Maybe you live in a block of units – take the stairs and double up on the amount of steps you take (go up one landing, then back down, and back up again!). Got kids? Hello youtube, Pitbull and your kids greasy, sticky hands – dance like no one is watching, and sing at the top of your lungs. I guarantee you’ll be left smiling, if not a little crazy eyed. 😉
Get your endorphins flowing in any way possible, whenever you can. The more often it happens, the better you feel overall.
Wardrobes are jam packed. Cupboards are overflowing with plastic containers, fancy plates, and way too many glasses. Consider this – have you touched it in the last year? No? Why do you have it? What purpose does it serve? When are you planning on using it? Who would benefit from it more than you? If it’s taking up valuable real estate in your house, chances are it’s causing you overwhelm. Move it on.
Create space and understand that it’s not “empty”. What you are creating is room for fresh love, freedom and possibility.
These are seriously just touching really broad surfaces in simplifying, decluttering, and minimalizing your every day.
You will be surprised by the impacts that just one small change can make on your overall wellbeing. Not only will you feel more organised, but you will become calmer in mind, and as you slowly change your habits, you will see more positive influences follow.
